Virgin to bring mobile chatting to India

Nimbuzz has partnered with Virgin Mobile to bring social networking and chatting to the mobile operator's youth centric customer. Nimbuzz is offering its WAP chat application to Virgin Mobile under the brand name of Vchatter. In the first phase, Vchatter will allow Virgin Mobile user to chat in Vbytes-Virgin Mobile's WAP portal-environment Vchatter brings a click log-in to multiple internet messenger services like Yahoo Messenger, Gtalk, MSM Messenger, Facebook, Skype etc via the Vbytes portal for free.

Virgin Mobile launches Data Services

Virgin Mobile India, a joint venture between Virgin Group and Tata Teleservices, today announced its foray into the data segment with the launch of its USB modem 'vLink' priced at Rs 2,100.

The device, vLink, is a CDMA USB modem offering one GB data storage priced at Rs 2,100, Virgin Mobile India said in a statement.

"vLink comes with a starter kit... Which includes free unlimited promo data usage time of 30 days. We have launched two tariff plans — Rs 801 per month (for unlimited data usage) and Rs 349 per month (with a facility of balance roll over to next month)," Virgin Mobile India Chief Officer (Handset, VAS and Procurement) Deval Parikh said.

The second plan has a rate of 25 paise per minute (between 8 am-10 pm) and 13 paise per minute (between 10 pm-8 am), he added.

"vLink will offer instant connectivity on the move to the style conscious youth, be it students, professionals, SMBs or SOHOs...It is a carry-along device that will allow users to access internet anywhere as well as store their music, photos, videos etc," Virgin Mobile India Chief Executive Officer M A Madhusudan said.

The statement added that India has a total internet user base of 49.40 million, of which net users 'under 25' years of age account for 52 per cent.

Virgin Mobile Brings Free Call Plan at RS. 15

In a move to lure the Virgin Mobile users,The MVNO CDMA Mobile operator launches Virgin to Virgin FREE Calls plan at one time charge of Rs.14.The Free Calling facility will be applicable to its own local network.The new Free Call Plan known as Virgin to Virgin Bakbak Plan will be available for all subcribers of Virgin Mobile across India.

To activate the new plan Virgin Subscriber need to Recharge their prepaid account by Rs.14 (Just one time E-recharge only). Once Virgin subscribers activate the the new bakbak plan,They can make free Virgin to Virgin Local calls subject to a maximum of 200 minutes per day after first 3 minutes of call priced at Rs.1/min for the day. This pack is available for no extra cost after the initial recharge of Rs.14 (Just One Time). Call and sms rates to other mobiles will remain unchanged after activating this plan!!

The Virgin Bakbak plan may be useful for the people with heavy on-net usage.Spending Rs.3 per day for 200 mins sounds like a good deal with Virgin to virgin calling Rates.

Virgin Mobile runs 24x7 Rockathon in Bangalore

Virgin Mobile, in collaboration with Planet M, has kickstarted the first ever attempt at continuous 100 hours of live music performance at Planet M’s flagship store on Brigade Road, Bangalore. Music enthusiasts from the city can be witness this unique festival from 25 to 29 May 2009.

The event titled ‘The 24x7 Rockathon’, will witness a massive congregation of approximately 50 music bands from all across the country performing live spread across 5 days. This first of its kind music fest will attempt to enter the Limca Book of Records for the longest ever continuous musical concert.
